How about pitchers and their improved skills/strength? How about the difference in the quality of opposing players? How about newer ballparks? Changes in diamond dimensions. Blah blah blah. You get into those comparisons and you can go nuts.

You forgot "performing enhancing drugs" in your list of comparisons......
My thing is, they won't recognize Pete Rose because he gambled, but they don't seem to care that Barry Bonds was a steroids freak.... Maybe I'm just not as educated on the situation as I could be, though...

No one has equaled the number of home runs hit by Babe Ruth in the same number of games per season.
