Okay, you have convinced me. You and the boyfriend. He handles raw meat and eggs, then handles everything else in the kitchen. Always has. Typical bachelor. And he is never sick. It still drives me nuts but I'm learning to adjust.
I don't know if I have told the story of my father-in-law.
He was an Italian immigrant, lived before refridgeration in the middle of Nevada. Ate rotten meat, left chicken on the counter for hours then cooked and ate it, caught fish and left them out, never worried about any bacteria.
At 87+, he had a stroke. Lost his swallow and routinely had stuff going down into his lungs. Also spent weeks in the hospital. He never came down with any secondary or nosocomial infections, including pulmonary. He finally died of kidney failure secondary to congestive heart failure.

I figure I drink enough beer to kill the germs anyway. :)
